Well were do I begin! Melbourne is a cultural, fashion, foodie heaven. An eclectic melting pot of small alleys, great lane ways, both city and suburban streets that are tucked away with old tree archways that make you feel like you've just found that hidden gem! The great thing is that there are load of them hiding away all over this gorgeous city of ours.
Today I discovered Maling Road in Cantebury, a gorgeous little gem of a street lined with shops, cafes, antique stores, lolly shops and the like. It's only about 15-20 minutes from were I live and yet I've never seen this it before....who knew!
I was actually on the hunt for Coco and Chloe a gorgeous little lifestyle shop that I've been following on Instagram for a while and that I've heard about but never had the pleasure, until today of visiting. Located at the entrance end of Maling Road as you turn off from Canterbury Road, Coco & Chloe is amongst a lovely array of shops that will have you meandering for the whole afternoon.
Named after the families two Schnauzers, this shop has a warm and friend feel as you walk in and even though I was only in there for a short time I met Gloria, the owners mum and there were a number of people that came in and said hi which felt very 'neighborhood-y' which is always lovely.
Carrying some gorgeous Australian and International products, this little shop has loads of gems that are perfect for that special present that is personal, bright, delicate and unique. I loved some of the Australian designers that Coco & Chloe carry such as 'I wish I had a little shop' {the wooden beaded necklaces and earrings on the left} as well as Curmilla {earring on the bottom right} as well as Sydney jewellery designer Kerry Rocks who had a stunning gold tree of life necklace that is my new lust after!
Along with a fabulous selection of stunning jewellery options, Coco & Chloe also carry some lovely homewares that I could have easily walked away with today. I have to say that I did purchase 2 latte mugs {which is a personal obsession I have!... love my lattes at home in pretty cups} from Mae which I'm sitting here drinking my coffee from as I write this. Mae also has some great plates with 'Nom' on them ~ very apt! If you get in quick, there is currently a sale in store with up to 30% off a number of items... maybe start your Christmas shopping early.
Coco & Chloe carry a number of international designers as well with jewellery from Spain and items from Japan, as well as Orla Kiely mugs and stationary items. There is also a range of New Zealand clothing designers in store worth a look.
| Some gorgeous toiletry bags, my favorite was the pink sparkly ones on the left! a girl can never have too much sparkle! |
| Some fab patient leather wallets on show. |
The lovely Gloria was there to say hi when I arrived and it was great to find out a little more about the shop and about Gloria. An ex corporate girl from the banking industry working in Audit, this was a dream that had been brewing for a while and after a number of changes in her work situation, Gloria decided to take the plunge and opened Coco & Chloe in October 2011. The shop is lovely to wander around and I felt at home from the minute I walked in. When I left with my lovely wrapped purchases in a great little canvas bag, I was told that there was a little gift inside {which all shoppers receive! - love it} When I got home there was a brooch, wasi tape and a lovely little card.... a girl loves a freebie with her purchases I say! ~ Thanks Gloria! I'll definitely be back when it's time to purchase some special gifts!
If you're around the area or even if you're not... take the time to head down to this wonderful little shop in this fab little street and make a brunch morning or arvo of it, you won't regret it.
